About Me

Visual Effects and Animation
My name is Nick Alloca. I am an animator and VFX artist with a B.F.A. in Computer Animation from of Ringling College of Art and Design and am currently studying Visual Effects at Savannah College of Art and Design in the pursuit of a Masters Degree. Through my studies I have learn various principles of Animation and visual effects with a current focus on fluid and pyro based simulations in Houdini. I've created various 10-20 second pieces varying in focus from simulations, set and prop modelling and procedural texturing to animation and storyboarding as well as a 2 minute independent short film that acted as my thesis for my degree at Ringling College. I've worked with industry standard software like Maya, Houdini, Substance, Nuke, Premiere and many others. I am always looking to learn and push my skills as far as they can go.
Scouting
Scouting has been as big a part of my life as art and animation. I earned my Eagle Scout rank in 2019 after refurbishing a local food pantry. I have also worked at the Boy Scout Camp NoBeBoSco Since 2017, starting as a counselor teaching merit badges like photography and robotics. Later, as Assistant Director of the Outdoor Engineering department I introduced and implemented a class for the Moviemaking merit badge. At the same time, I ran the group that built the massive fires that have become a staple of the camp. In 2023 I moved into the camp office as the Seasonal Office Manager, taking a more central role in the camp and working more closely with the camp directors. I began doing volunteer graphic design work for the camp that same year and in 2024 became much more involved in the creation of designs that would be sold by the camp. Scouting has given me strong leadership and communication skills, elevated my work ethic to a professional level, and most importantly, allowed me to meet some of my closest friends.
